Another post in the series of the Arbitrage Conspiracy Review. If you have not read the others Introducing the Arbitrage Conspiracy or the Arbitrage Conspiracy Mindset articles have a look before you read any further.
One thing we really liked about the course that Arbitrage Conspiracy did not do was try and sell heaps of other products. This was a breath of fresh air compared to other courses we had bought into. Moreover Arbitrage Conspiracy/Aymen only mentioned possible paid products after they discussed the use of free tools. And whenever Arbitrage Conspiracy did recommend buying products they were clear if they were product affiliates. Of course they were affiliates and yet their honesty felt like they were being transparent about their relationships. But like we said, the emphasis was always “start using free tools” which really was a nice change.
The other thing they emphasized over and over again was the need to use the free training resources provided by Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. That is priceless information – sounds obvious right? And how many of us do the obvious?… like read the instruction manual? We get sooo excited about the prospect of whatever it is we are doing we forget the basics – the ‘house keeping‘ if you like. Those training videos are useful for two reasons – firstly you work smarter/faster. Secondly you don’t make silly mistakes which can result in your account being suspended. OK so we are big kids wanting instant gratification – but beware – ignorance is no defense. We got ‘Google slapped‘ so we talk from experience – the onus is on the marketer to know the rules. No-one cares whether you ‘meant to‘ do something or not. By the way make sure you read our Affiliate Marketing Changes a Foot regarding the changes to Internet marketing. And remember to listen to the interview with Linda Goodman Internet Attorney extraordinaire. And do pass it around to people who may be interested in working online.
So like we said, Arbitrage Conspiracy’s advice to go through the training videos from the search engines (or wherever else) is great from a legal and efficiency stand point. Actually Arbitrage Conspiracy were more emphatic about using the general training videos than specific videos. Reena from SpeedPPC emphasized the need to become familiar with specific videos such as Google Analytics for example and we are so glad she did (stay tuned for review on SpeedPPC). Like Reena says, if you are doing PPC then you really need to crunch numbers. This means you really need to know your way around some stats software – why not Google? Get it?
The third reason I like the Arbitrage Conspiracy emphasis on using the free resources is because I think in the west we often don’t use what we have. You see it all the time – we buy something – we have to have something. Then, after the novelty wears off, it was like we never even bought it; it’s like erased from our consciousness. Or what about when you clean out your wardrobe and find clothes with tag still on? Or you buy exercise equipment/videos and use them once or twice? The Arbitrage Conspiracy team clearly uses what they have to the max and, speaking for myself, that is a lesson I need to keep learning better and in every aspect of life. So like one Arbitrage Conspiracy member said on a webinar, “it is as much about what they do not say as what they do say in the AC that is helpful”.
There are always other products to buy and super duper toys to try… but the focus in Arbitrage Conspiracy really is on using free resources – at least to start.
