The explosion of home business opportunities on the web has left many an internet entrepreneur? at a complete loss. Out of the hundreds of work at home online opportunities available it has become increasingly difficult to pick the bad from the good.
How does one differentiate the good, or fairly good jobs from the downright scams? Apart from Research, Research, Research? We have a couple of suggestions that will help with the weeding process:
- Check out the top Five Work At Home (WAH) sites: All work at home websites discuss work at home opportunities; the good and the bad. Look out for the work at home opportunities most commonly recommended across a majority of the sites; note the word ‘common’. You want to see a program recommended by more than one site. And, remember some (many?) forum participants may have their own agenda: to promote sites/products they are affiliated to – so be careful. The guiding principle is to consider a work online opportunity suggested by a number of people across the top sites. AND still do your homework.
- Email owners of the WAH sites/products you are interested in: For additional clarification, email the owners of the work at home opportunities to get a better understanding of the opportunity. Legitimate businesses are keen to make contact and provide honest feedback as they want to promote the legitimacy of their site. Contact with a real and reliable person is a good indicator of the products and services.
- Visit Forums: Nothing beats talking to someone who has been in your position or who is in your position and forums are the place to do that. Genuine forum participants offer free real opinions and discussions about scams, bonafide opportunities, what to look out for, etc. Business forums especially provide opinions on what users think about an opportunity you want to get some feedback on. Again, the rule is not to rely on one forum as there may be owners of the scam sites promoting their links. It’s best to ask in a few different forums and see what the overall consensus is among the members. If most of them have positive things to say about it then it’s probably a legitimate internet home business opportunity. If you are getting mostly negative reviews or if it’s pretty much neutral then move on to another opportunity.
- Google search review : Using Google search is another way to get a straightforward review from different people on a specific home business opportunity. You can look at the reviews that come up beside your search and gauge the viability of the particular site/ job/company, you are interested in. Take your time and maintain a sober mind. Not all positive reviews are necessarily a true representation of the facts. Look out for the negative reviews as well. Do your best to base your final decision on both sides.
Remember: Even good sites do have a few negatives that you might be interested in knowing about and of which may in turn influence your final decision.
- Seek out the experts: Finally, as with any important decision, consult the experts. There are a few very knowledgeable people who have been in the industry of making money online for a very long time and it helps to get to know them. Seek out a one on one discussion session with them so as to ‘pick their brains‘. One rule of success in any business is to find yourself a mentor. Choose someone who you believe is credible that you know you can trust.
Bear in mind that when you approach someone and seek their advice or mentor-ship they are highly likely to feel responsible for you and your success. Therefore they are likely to give you real and honest feedback on the various online opportunities. But mentoring is a two way street – only seek a mentor if you are committed to actually participating in the relationship.
All in all, finding legitimate online jobs is not as difficult as it made out to be. It all boils down to playing your part. And that means doing your research. It is said that: “Experience is the best teacher.” I agree, but I add to that statement :
“..that experience does not have to be your own.”
